Vincent Trotta is a composer based in Charlotte, North Carolina and is currently attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for his 4th year of studies towards the BM in Performance - Composition. His music uses lyricism, groove, motifs, and post-minimalist techniques to craft pieces filled with poetry and storytelling. Since attending UNCG in 2023, Vincent has written and premiered multiple works for a diverse array of instrumentations. He has had premieres at Walden's Creative Musicians' Retreat and the Nief-Norf Summer Festival and has written for ensembles, such as Sounding Board, Calypsus Brass, and UNCG's University Symphony Orchestra. Vincent has been studying composition in private lessons with Dr. Alejandro Rutty, Dr. Mark Engebretson, and Dr. Steve Landis since 2024. 

Other than composition, Vincent's other musical interests lie in performing, conducting, and collaborating with others. Vincent has studied piano with Dr. Annie Jeng since 2024 at UNCG. He loves 20th century/contemporary repertoire and one of his favorite opportunities is to be able to play his fellow student composers' compositions. Vincent has also collaborated extensively with filmmakers ever since his high school's film club and loves to work creatively with filmmakers from composing, boom operating, writing, and even acting on short film projects. Vincent's interests culminate in the ensemble he co-founded with Max Iapalucci, the Night Train Ensemble, where he recently played and conducted Philip Glass' 'Glassworks'. He believes contemporary classical music should be maintained and continued through the exchange of ideas brought by playing and expanding the repertoire.
